THE POSITION

Tasks & responsibilities

• One of your key responsibilities will be the outreach to external biotech, start-ups, and other organizations to identify high-potential partners and establish Boehringer Ingelheim as a preferred company to innovate with.
• You will scout and license innovative technologies, lead cross-functional technology projects and liaise with scientific and function leaders within Development to identify technology gaps and perform targeted scouting accordingly.
• You will drive the assessment and decision on opportunities by partnering with relevant functions.
• Moreover, you will keep abreast and share with functions new and emerging science in non-clinical development by participating in conferences, symposia, forums, consortia, and partnering activities.
• In addition, you will establish a strong collaboration with other external facing departments to identify and license technologies relevant to drug development.

Requirements

• PhD in pharmaceutics, (analytical) chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, biology, or comparable with long-term professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Knowledge and understanding of technology gaps across global Development. Ability to identify and advance external innovation partnering opportunities
• Experience in drug development with representing Pharma / Biotech companies in an externally facing role and demonstrated ability to cultivate high functioning working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners
• Ability to quickly learn and understand scientific technologies translating the relevance, significance, and potential innovation opportunity to drug development
• Enthusiasm and energy with “can-do” attitude with strong entrepreneurial spirit; creativity in developing innovative strategies to achieve success; results-driven, persistent, and resilient in the pursuit of objectives, willing to take on new challenges and works to resolve issues
• Effective in delivering within a matrix environment; excellent oral communication skills in English paired with excellent capabilities of presenting to senior leadership on a regular basis
• Willingness to travel internationally on a regular basis (up to 50%)
