THE POSITION

We are looking for a Culture and Scientific Engagement Manager to strengthen the scientific culture in Development and to highlight and empower our scientists to drive a culture of innovation. You provide the answer to the question of how one of the important, research-based pharmaceutical companies will conduct science in the future. In this role you have crucial impact on Employer attractiveness and corporate success.

  • One of your key responsibilities will be to conceptualize, plan and lead activities to strengthen the scientific culture in Development and to highlight and empower our scientists to drive a culture of innovation.
  • You will design, coordinate, and run events that enhance engagement and reputation such as Scientist Minutes, Science fairs and / or Scientist appreciation events.
  • Furthermore, you will create and implement initiatives independently, such as "Development Science Day" or "I am a scientist" to drive scientific exchanges across development and reward and recognize scientific excellence.
  • Thus, you will design and steer new approaches and concepts to improve the scientific culture in Development.
  • You will drive the assessment and decision on opportunities by partnering with relevant functions.
  • Moreover, you will support and advise the Development leadership team in developing and implementing strategies to drive a culture of scientific excellence and engagement.
  • You will contribute your own scientific experience incl. state-of-the-art process knowhow to continuously improve scientific excellence.
  • In addition, you will collaborate with the Communication team and efficiently communicate into global Development as well as overall Boehringer Ingelheim to highlight scientific accomplishments and disseminate a culture of scientific excellence, excitement, and productivity.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in pharmaceutics, (analytical) chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, biology or comparable; relevant certifications of expertise like e.g. in change management or corporate culture are desirable
  • Science background and knowledge of drug development with long-term experience
  • Proven capability to work within a complex, cross-functional, international matrix environment; ability to build networks within and across functions
  • Curious, proactive, and passionate about driving employee engagement to deliver results
  • Creativity in developing methods for engaging an audience toward the success of a goal
  • Flexible, dynamic and engaging with ability to persuade and influence across all levels
  • Ability to guide ideation processes and motivate teams to achieve extraordinary goals
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German paired with sound interpersonal and collaborative skills; demonstrated ability to work in a complex, cross functional, international matrix environment
