THE POSITION

Tasks & responsibilities

• As Head of Laboratory BPAD (BioProcess and Analytical Development) Protein Science you are responsible for the development of state-of-the-art purification processes.
• In this role you lead, coach and coordinate CMC development subteams to support development projects and BI's internal technology development.
• You act as Principal Investigator for technology and innovation projects, including scientific supervision of students and/or technical staff, planning, execution and implementation.
• Furthermore, you ensure delivery of high-quality data and results, including required documentation for regulatory filings (INDs/BLAs) and reports to stakeholders (e.g. project teams, line management, DRA, clients) on time and within budget.
• You support the 'BI safe' concept by strengthening awareness and accountability of employees for safety. Hence, you act, acting as a role model, encouraginges active contribution to safety trainings/initiatives.
• In addition, you develop and use external and internal networks in scientific field of expertise.

Requirements

• PhD or Master’s degree e.g. in bioengineering, biotechnology or bioinformatics with several years of relevant industrial background
• Strong technical expertise in downstream processing of biologicals as well as strong background in protein analytical methods
• Proven leadership skills and ability to influence without direct authority in multi-disciplinary teams
• Strong team collaboration skills as well as ability to work independently.
• Ability to identify problems and work towards solutions
• Organizational skills, ability to respond to changing priorities and short lead times for multiple tasks
• Excellent oral communication skills as well as sound technical writing and documentation competencies in English
