Project description

The PEI-GHPP Blood project – assigned to PEI as part of the Global Health Protection Programme of the German Federal Ministry of Health – seeks to make a sustainable contribution towards strengthening the structures of blood supply as an essential element of national health systems in partner countries in Africa, and there-by also strengthening the capacity to overcome crisis situations.Your responsibilities
  • Providing local support in African partner countries in regulatory strengthening of the entire process from the collection of blood donations to distribution and use of blood components
  • Providing local support in African partner countries in regulatory strengthening of in vitro diagnostics (IVDs)
  • Establishing comprehensive and structured training programmes for staff members of African regulatory authorities and where appropriate also employees of blood donation services from African partner countries
Job Requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent degree in biology, human medicine, or related life sciences
  • PhD desirable
  • Professional experience, ideally in regulatory work, and/or in the field of transfusion medicine
  • Knowledge of regulation of medicinal products
  • Knowledge of the regulation of in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) and blood associated medical devices are desirable
  • Good skills in organization and communication, and ability to work both independently and cooperatively
  • Willingness to travel to developing countries with focus on Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Intercultural competence
  • Resilience and stress tolerance
  • High level of proficiency in English and German; additional language skills in French are advantageous
Our Working ConditionsA multifaceted and challenging position centrally located in the Rhine-Main area (Frankfurt) with good public transport connections. Being an employer in the German public service, we offer the usual social benefits.

The position is available from the starting date until 31.12.2022.
The payband is E 14 TVöD Bund. The assignment to a payband is made based on the consideration of your individual professional experience.
